Remembering Members and Volunteers
Sanford Lee Cooper
Sandy was born March 22, 1932 and it was his love for birding that started his volunteer efforts at Oscar Scherer State Park.
Sandy not only led the weekly Scrub walks in the park but played a vital role in the study and documentation of the Florida Scrub-Jay at Oscar Scherer State Park.
Sandy’s work with the Florida Scrub-Jay helped the park develop the best methods to restore important Scrub hábitat for the Jays. Sandy, who passed away on February 11, 2017, was an amazing advocate for the Florida Scrub-Jay and is sorely missed by all species.
